Hold onto your Pop-Tarts and lock down your lattes because the all-new Chrysler Pacifica Hellcat minivan might be on the way sooner than you think. Nothing says get-to-school-on-time speed like a fire-breathing minivan that delivers up to 807 horsepower. So whether you’re a parent looking to add some spice to school drop-offs or you’re the new football coach looking to tow the away-game trailer (busses are expensive, after all), the Chrysler Pacifica Hellcat minivan is just about ready to rip its claws into your boring old commute.
Your team at San Antonio Dodge knows the next and most obvious question: What on earth will this family-focused, quarter-mile crushing super-van look like? For starters, you can browse our inventory of the new Chrysler Pacifica for sale to get a sense of some key features. Then, keep on reading to get the inside scoop about the madness that we think we’ll find in the all-new Hellcat minivan.
Let’s just call it out, shall we? The family station wagon. Remember those boxy, wood-paneled, shag-carpet behemoths? The family wagon never really epitomized automotive awesomeness — though some of them did have CB radios and rear-facing seats (which were cool for the era). The advent of the family minivan presented a somewhat elegant alternative. The minivan made entry and exit more convenient. Visibility over traffic was enhanced. And dare we say that the minivan also defied convention. They were the new family wagon. Just different.
History has a funny way of repeating itself.
The Dodge Hellcat minivan could be one-part practical and about 666 parts insanity. So, where should you start when it comes time to take a family vehicle to a whole new level? Considering the head of design for Stellantis (CDJRs parent company) has been sketching renderings since 2016, you’ve got to think that the debut for the Hellcat minivan is on the way.
In order to understand the entire animal, we’ve got to take a quick look into the true nature of the beast.
The 6.2L Supercharged Hemi V-8 that powers all Hellcat variants offers up to 807 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. Backing up all that power are two heavy-duty transmissions: namely the eight-speed Torqueflite® automatic with paddle-shift or the six-speed TREMEC® manual. Could there be such a thing as a manual transmission Hellcat van? We’ll have to wait and see about that.
What we do know is that the AWD version of the Dodge Challenger has an intelligent front-axle disconnect. A system that we would expect to carry over onto the AWD Hellcat minivan, which favors FWD on almost all model trims. Dynamics will also be expected to carry over. You should be able to adjust traction, shift points, engine management, steering, and suspension — just like all other Dodge Challenger Hellcat variants.
But what will the Hellcat minivan look like? If you guessed hell on wheels, you wouldn’t be far from the truth.
On the inside, we should see premium quality leather, stitching, and badgework. Inlays will come in carbon fiber or rare earth minerals (as seen in the Dodge Durango Hellcat). Ultimate comfort will be the order of the day, and ventilated seats will undoubtedly make an appearance to help anyone in the hot seat stay cool.
On the outside, we’ll see specialized alloys that sport wide-performance tires. We’ll see oversized Brembo brakes ready to keep all that power under control. We’ll also see the front and rear wings designed to help keep the Hellcat minivan on the asphalt as it approaches speed thresholds that no other minivan has ever aspired to claim as well as iconic Hellcat badging, wide-body designs, racing stripes, and colors like Plum Crazy, TorRed, and our favorite: F8 Green.
Signature LEDs will make their appearance, as will the unmistakable hood scoop designed to feed the 2.7L supercharger that delivers nearly 15 lbs of boost!
Can’t wait for the Hellcat minivan to arrive in San Antonio? Get your hands on the 2021 Ram TRX. Luxurious, insanely capable, and monstrously dynamic, this pickup truck should make for a nice “temp” until your soccer-mom-from-Hellcat minivan arrives.
And who wouldn’t? There are too few opportunities these days to show your personality. If you never take no for an answer; if you demand the ultimate performance from any vehicle you drive; and if you want the best way possible to scare the Hellcat out of that annoying kid in your carpool group, the Chrysler Pacifica Hellcat will gladly accommodate.
We know you’ve got questions. Here are some of our best answers to the speculation and panic we’ve been dealing with in our showroom:
Hey, if you’ve already got a Chrysler Pacifica and are thinking a little elbow grease and a long weekend of wrenching is in your future, you might like to know that the high-output Hellcat Redeye engine only costs about $22,000. The more important question: “Can you really put a price on happiness?”
We aren’t allowed to reveal such a secret yet, but if one were to tease said classified information about said Hellcat minivan, one would say that the Chrysler Pacifica would be such a said minivan. Though we can neither confirm nor deny rumors or speculations — yet.
At the moment, the fastest production minivan is the 700 horsepower AMG Mercedes R63. Considering the fact that the Mercedes starts at about $90,000, any Hellcat minivan price would be well worth the added horsepower.1 It’s like they say in racing, “How fast do you want to go? How much do you have to spend?”
We are the Chrysler dealer in San Antonio that will help you make your Hellcat dreams a reality — one way or another.
